Lagos, Nigeria- Under the leadership of its new Chief Executive Officer, H.E Ms. Nardos BekeleThomas, the African Union Development Agency-NEPAD and its African Forest and Landscape Restoration Initiative (AFR100) partners are organising the seventh Annual Partnership Meeting (APM) to discuss and frame a strategy to attract more investments towards expanding access to restoration financing for smallholder farmers. The APM 7 will also assess the progress and come up with a new plan and innovations to accelerate large-scale land restoration interventions.

On the side-line of the AFR100 APM 7, the capacities of twenty-five Nigerian officials will be strengthened as part of the Restoration Academy, which is hosted by AUDA NEPAD and the Federal Ministry for Environment, Nigeria, and implemented by Deutsche Gesellschaft fuer Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ). In addition, the AFR100 Website will be launched among many other prominent events.

Launched in 2015 at the UN climate conference in Paris (COP21), AFR100 is a Pan-African initiative to bring 100 million hectares of degraded landscape in Africa into restoration by 2030. Hosted at AUDA-NEPAD as secretariate, AFR100 is a partnership of 34 member countries, all of which work together with numerous technical and financial partners and thousands of local restoration champions to restore 100 million hectares of land across Africa by 2030.
