The Youth in Forest Plantation Enterprise Project (YFPEP) is an initiative of the Forest Plantation Development Fund Management Board (FPDFMB). This initiative offers young entrepreneurs an opportunity to undertake commercial forest plantation development and become owners of the established stands. The Government of Ghana through the FPDFMB provides monthly allowance and logistical support to the young entrepreneurs. Implementation of YFPEP commenced in 2019 within three (3) forest reserves, namely: Tain II (Sunyani Forest District), Tinte Bepo (Mankranso Forest District) and Esen Epam (Oda Forest District).

The Project commenced with an initial engagement of 75 young entrepreneurs who were designated as plantation supervisors. However, as a result of resignation and dismissals, the current number now stands at 63.Each Supervisor together with three (3) Assistants was allocated 5 ha degraded forest reserve land for plantation establishment. Assistants whose supervisors were either dismissed or resigned, were made to continue working on their allocated block. During the reporting period, a total area of 33.5 ha was established. Consequently, a cumulative total area of 358.5 ha has been established under the initiative out of the allocated area of 750 hectares. Species planted include Teak, Cedrela, Ofram and African Mahogany.
