Green Zones Development Support Project Phase II is a forest conservation project funded by African Development Bank (AfDB) and the Government of Kenya. The goal of the project is to improve forest conservation and community livelihoods for sustainable forest management in Kenya. Its overarching aim is to contribute to the country’s climate change resilience.
The project aims to promote new and more efficient ways of increasing forest cover, improve community livelihood and increase food security, and through sustainable and inclusive commodity value chains and market development; The key deliverables are rehabilitation of 337,750 Ha of degraded forest and other landscapes, enhance community incomes by KES 150,000 per household per year, enhance food security of forest adjacent communities and support infrastructure development.
