The project focuses on promoting low cost irrigation technologies and green energy for improved livelihood and climate change resilience. It is currently piloted in 5 Counties (Kisumu, Machakos, Murang’a, Nyeri and Meru) with a vision of replication in seven other ASAL Counties. The project has received a total of Ksh. 117,776,795 from the Government of Kenya to date.
Achievements
- Development of Community training and demonstration centers for low cost irrigation technologies;
- Establishment of forests outside protected areas;
- Promotion of climate-smart energy technologies;
- Promote diversification of community livelihoods;
- Project implementation guidelines review and sensitization;
- Support private forest farmers and forest producer associations to establish 5,000 Ha on-farm commercial woodlots;
- Training of Trainers on low-cost irrigation technologies for tree growing;
- Community member sensitization forums on low-cost irrigation technologies for tree planting and green energy production.
