How to Monitor 100 Locally Led Land Restoration Projects in Africa: Lessons from TerraFund for AFR100 | June 27 | 11am CEST, 9am UTC
TerraFund for AFR100 has funded 100 locally led projects that restore Africa’s degraded and deforested land by growing trees. This session will dig deep into the implementation challenges of monitoring, reporting, and verifying (MRV) restoration when building the capacity of local champions.

Countries have made ambitious restoration pledges through various regional and international initiatives but have limited technical and financial resources to monitor progress and reach scale. This session will provide an overview of how to measure progress, impacts and performance of policy with Land & Carbon Lab's and partners' methods and tools.

There is growing interest in monitoring the progress of land restoration, but there are few practical examples of how to do it effectively. This session will provide examples of how various institutions are approaching the task of monitoring restoration at scales ranging from local projects to landscapes to national, regional, and global initiatives.

How can carbon finance lead to accurate and measurable carbon removals while empowering local communities? This session will explore early lessons on the challenges of collecting data from locally led land restoration projects and the potential paths toward integrating remote sensing into carbon credit verification.
Transboundary Coalitions for Land Restoration: Challenges and Advances in Collecting High-Quality Data | June 29 | 1:30pm CEST, 11:30am UTC
This session will bring together transboundary partnerships from Brazil, Africa, and India that are building networks of local actors, such as the Brazilian Restoration and Reforestation Observatory, to measure impact environmental targets and improve people's lives. By unpacking the “do’s and don’ts” of partnership-building, these landscape leaders will share how they are unlocking the power of collaboration.
