AFR100 and UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration

Back to All News

The United Nations Decade on Ecosystem Restoration (2021-2030), led by UN Environment and FAO, will contribute to the achievements of AFR100 by building momentum and political will, awareness, and technical capacity at all levels. In recent months, the core team has made serious progress and Member States and other stakeholders are expressing interest.

Recently, the team completed the final draft of the strategy for the Decade. An open consultation process was held online in March and April, and an updated version of the strategy is expected to be launched in June. Soon, the Decade’s visual identity will be created, financial mechanism will begin to operate, and flagship initiatives will be selected. The Decade will be officially launched at the UN General Assembly in September. For more information, contact the team.
